Cast Iron Radiators
As part of the rennovation of the drawing room we had to take out the old radiators as they were attached to a false wall. The room looked so pretty when we moved in but on closer inspection it all needed ripping out and starting again.
We could have put the radiators back in but they were rusty and the wrong size, the room never got warm. We looked at lots of different modern radiators but in the end settled on new traditional radiators. My favourite online supplies shop Coventry Demolition also sell radiators and they were indeed the cheapest I could find online. We worked out what BTU’s we required then added a bit as we would rather turn the radiators down!
The prices soon add up after we added traditional thermostatic valves, and stays but in total for two radiators with all accessories and delivery we spent just over £900. They warned us that the radiators were heavy and that they only delivered to the street but boy was it a struggle to get them up 3 flights of steps! But it was worth it, as they look fantastic installed with their steampunk valves and bare copper pipe (see below).
